"If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer... If you are a pretender, come sit by my fire. —Shel Silverstein"
Typography is powerful, because it is the visual representation of thoughts and ideas. Typography can act as a visual metaphor of meaning— creating the subtle details of an unspoken word. Visual Voices is series of prints that represent the inaudible voice within. The voice that wants to say everything, and nothing at the same time. An imposter, who has so much power with words. The series presents the sharp language of that invisible being in a visual manner– harnessing it with the control of a two-dimensional plane. In doing so, these words lose their powerful negativity, which is replaced with a sense of open acceptance.
"Material Witness" is an on-going series of sculptural investigations. In each case study, different materials are used to create a physical piece of typography. In doing so, I am able assess responses related to physical and emotional qualities. Therefore, each piece becomes a contributor to my understanding of how material can affect physical and emotional responses. This preliminary investigation of material witnesses provided valuable information in creating an immersive experience.
